Formula 1 roars back into action this weekend as the championship heads to Silverstone for the much-anticipated British Grand Prix. Fresh from McLaren’s dominant display at the Red Bull Ring, the pressure is on as drivers gear up for today’s qualifying session.

Lewis Hamilton, already the holder of a record seven pole positions at his home track, is eyeing yet another top spot on the grid.

“Lewis Hamilton is looking to extend his record number of pole positions at his home track of Silverstone, already holding the track record with seven.”

Despite his pedigree, the bookmakers aren’t favouring the Mercedes driver this time around. Hamilton is currently ranked as the fifth favourite for the pole position, while McLaren teammates Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri are neck and neck at the top of the odds.

“The Brit comes into the weekend as just fifth favourite to take the number one grid slot with the vast majority of bookies, with barely a fraction separating Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri with the shortest odds.”

Elsewhere, Max Verstappen and George Russell remain serious contenders. Both have bagged surprise poles in recent races, adding extra intrigue to today’s session. But if the pace shown in Austria is anything to go by, McLaren could well be the team to beat once again.
