Emergency Services and Locals Join Forces in Urgent Effort to Locate Mylo Capilla
A widespread search operation has been launched in Ingleby Barwick, Teesside, following the disappearance of 13-year-old Mylo Capilla. The boy was last spotted around 9pm on Thursday in an area locally known as the ‘Muddies’, close to the River Tees.
The area near Ramsey Gardens has since become the focal point of a large-scale search, drawing in emergency services and concerned members of the public.
Emergency Crews Rush to the Scene
The response has been significant. Five ambulances, a specialist water rescue unit, mountain rescue teams, police officers, and search dogs arrived at the site on Thursday evening. Local residents have also turned out in large numbers to assist, according to reports from the scene.
Authorities cordoned off parts of the nearby housing estate as search teams worked through the night, determined to find the missing teenager.
One witness shared the intensity of the scene with Teesside Live: “There are literally dozens of people out searching – you can see them all in groups of like five or six. There are men and women, some of them are in their dressing gowns.”
Cleveland Police are appealing to the public for any information that may aid in locating Mylo. He was last seen wearing a dark T-shirt and dark bottoms.
Officers have welcomed public support but issued a clear warning: anyone wishing to help must liaise with police on site. Importantly, they stressed that for safety reasons, no one should enter the water.
In a post on Facebook, the force stated: “While searches are ongoing, officers are reminding members of the public in the area to liaise with them directly and for their own safety, not to enter any water.
“If you have information that will assist officers, please call 101 quoting reference number 117649.”
The search continues as the community remains on edge, hoping for Mylo’s safe return.
