The beloved Gossip Girl star was found deceased in her Manhattan apartment on 26 February, at the age of 39, following a 911 emergency call.
Authorities confirmed that Trachtenberg had undergone a liver transplant before her passing. Although her family initially resisted an autopsy, the New York City Medical Examiner’s Office later updated the cause of death based on comprehensive laboratory analysis.
No Suspicious Circumstances
Law enforcement initially classified her death as “undetermined” due to the absence of any suspicious elements. However, fans had long expressed concerns about the actress’s health, particularly on social media, where speculation had been mounting.

Police were dispatched to her residence at 1 Columbus Place in New York City in response to a 911 call. A spokesperson for the NYPD stated: “Upon arrival, officers observed a 39-year-old female unconscious and unresponsive. EMS responded to the location and pronounced the victim deceased. Criminality is not suspected.”
