Hollywood actor Kiefer Sutherland has been arrested following an alleged assault on a ride-share driver in Los Angeles, police have confirmed.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) said the London-born Canadian actor entered a ride-share vehicle just after midnight on Monday in Hollywood.
Officers allege that Sutherland “physically assaulted the driver and made criminal threats.” Fortunately, the driver was not injured, and police have said the incident is under investigation by the Hollywood Division of the LAPD.
Sutherland was later released after posting a $50,000 bond (£37,300) and is expected to appear in court on 2 February 2026.

Sutherland is internationally recognised for his role as Jack Bauer in the Fox drama 24, and more recently as President Tom Kirkman in Designated Survivor.
He has won an Emmy Award for his performances and is the son of Canadian actor Donald Sutherland.
The actor has a history of legal issues in the United States. In 2007, he served 48 days in jail after being convicted of driving under the influence following a failed field sobriety test.
