Leeds Rhinos have taken a modern step forward in fan engagement by launching a new YouTube Membership service, giving supporters a fresh way to watch matches and access exclusive club content.

The move comes just in time for one of rugby league’s most cherished festive fixtures, the annual Boxing Day clash against Wakefield Trinity at AMT Headingley.

The match, part of the traditional Wetherby Whaler Festive Challenge, kicks off at 11:30am on 26 December and is expected to draw strong interest both inside the stadium and online.

Why have Leeds Rhinos launched a YouTube membership now?

The timing of the launch is no accident. Boxing Day fixtures are deeply rooted in rugby league culture, particularly in Yorkshire, and Leeds Rhinos see this as the perfect moment to expand how fans experience the club.

By introducing Rhinos TV Plus through YouTube, the club is using a platform that most supporters already understand and trust.

Rather than asking fans to download a new app or subscribe to a separate streaming service, Leeds Rhinos are bringing premium content to a familiar space.

A club spokesperson explained that the goal is to make following the Rhinos easier and more inclusive, especially for fans who cannot always travel to Headingley.

If you can’t make it to AMT Headingley today, don’t forget you can watch the game live on our official YouTube channel for just £5.99 which includes replays for a month.

Leeds Rhinos: “This membership allows supporters to stay closer to the club, whether they’re in Leeds, elsewhere in the UK, or watching from abroad.”

What exactly is Rhinos TV Plus and how much does it cost?

Rhinos TV Plus is priced at £5.99 per month and offers supporters full match replays from the men’s Betfred Super League, along with live streams of selected non-Super League fixtures.

This includes the Boxing Day friendly against Wakefield Trinity, giving fans at home the chance to watch the match live.

Subscribers also receive priority access to exclusive video series, including behind-the-scenes features that show life inside the club beyond matchday.

Academy and Reserves games played at AMT Headingley will also be streamed live, with plans to include women’s fixtures in the future once league regulations allow.

Alongside this, the club has introduced a lower-cost option called Rhinos TV at £3.99 per month. This entry-level membership offers early access to selected content but does not include live streams or full match replays.

Will free Leeds Rhinos content disappear from YouTube?

Supporters concerned about losing free content can be reassured. Leeds Rhinos have confirmed that highlights, interviews, and press conferences will remain freely available on their YouTube channel.

Popular audio and video podcasts, including the Leeds Rhinos Podcast, The Knock On Effect, and the Leeds Rugby League Heritage Podcast, will also continue to be accessible without charge.

The paid memberships are designed to add value rather than restrict existing content.

How strong is the Leeds Rhinos online following already?

The club’s digital reach has grown steadily in recent years. The official Leeds Rhinos YouTube channel now has more than 20,000 subscribers and has recorded close to 1.9 million views during 2025 alone.

These figures highlight why YouTube was chosen as the home for the new membership service.

For fans, this also means flexibility. Matches and exclusive videos can be watched on smart TVs, phones, tablets, or laptops using the YouTube app, fitting easily around busy family schedules during the festive period.

What exclusive content can members expect next?

One of the standout attractions for subscribers will be early access to the second season of “Spirit of the Rhinos, a behind-the-scenes documentary produced by RAM Films.

The series follows the squad throughout the 2025 season, offering insight into training, preparation, and matchday emotions.

The new season is due to premiere in February 2026, with Rhinos TV Plus members receiving first access ahead of wider release.

This type of documentary storytelling has become increasingly popular across UK sport, helping fans feel more connected to players and staff.

How can fans follow the Boxing Day match if they cannot attend?

Supporters unable to make it to Headingley on Boxing Day will be able to watch the match live through Rhinos TV Plus.

The service also includes full match replays, allowing fans to catch up later if festive commitments get in the way.

Why are rugby league clubs moving towards digital memberships?

Across the UK, rugby league clubs are increasingly turning to digital platforms to strengthen their connection with supporters.

Unlike traditional broadcast deals, digital memberships allow clubs to reach fans directly, including younger audiences and supporters living outside the region.

For clubs like Leeds Rhinos, these services also provide a sustainable revenue stream without raising ticket prices, while offering fans more choice in how and when they watch their team.
