Cleaner suckers are in for a treat this Christmas as Emmerdale prepares to drink none other than Jason Donovan for a surprise, gleeful gem.
The Australian cleaner legend, best known for his part as Scott Robinson in Neighbours, will appear in the special vacation occasion, promising nostalgia and cheer for observers across the UK.
Donovan’s guest spot was mugged on the Emmerdale set in Leeds, where he charmed cast and crew likewise.
He indeed performed one of his classic successes at the village cantina, the Woolpack, in a scene designed as a gladdening surprise for Lydia Dingle, played by Karen Blick.
“I’m incredibly excited to have been asked to make a cameo appearance in Emmerdale as myself. Filming was great fun and all of the cast and crew were extremely welcoming,” Donovan said.
He added, recalling his time in the Woolpack, that it was a moment he “won’t forget.”
Laura Shaw, the show’s producer, also shared her excitement about the collaboration. “We were delighted that Jason agreed to join us for this episode.
Not only is Lydia Dingle a big fan of his, but there was a real buzz on set that day. I hope the viewers enjoy his cameo as much as the Emmerdale family did.”
The Christmas storyline focuses on Lydia, a devoted fan who misses her chance to see Donovan at a live concert.
Determined to bring some festive joy, the villagers hatch a clever plan to deliver a personal performance right to her.
Behind the scenes, the atmosphere was equally lively. “It was really fun and Jason was a real pro, he enjoyed the cameo,” a source revealed.
Fans following other twists in the village may also be intrigued by the recent storyline involving John Sugden, which has shaken up the local drama.
Fans can expect a heartwarming and slightly cheeky moment when Donovan’s appearance airs in the holiday episode, adding star power and festive sparkle to the Yorkshire village.
This crossover is a treat not only for long-time followers of Emmerdale but also for anyone with a soft spot for 80s and 90s pop culture.
The special episode will air on ITV this December, marking a memorable Christmas for Emmerdale viewers and Jason Donovan fans alike.
