Fiorentina Secure Tariq Lamptey in £6m Deal from Brighton
Italian Serie A club Fiorentina has confirmed the signing of Ghanaian defender Tariq Lamptey from Brighton & Hove Albion in a deal worth £6 million, including performance-related add-ons.
The 24-year-old has joined the Italian side as a squad option for Brazilian wing-back Dodô. He has been handed the number 48 jersey.
Born in Hillingdon, England, Lamptey started his career at Chelsea before moving to Brighton in January 2020. Over five seasons with the Seagulls, he made 104 appearances, scoring three goals and contributing several assists.
Last season proved challenging, with recurring injuries limiting him to just 15 appearances. Despite the setbacks, he still managed to contribute two goals and numerous assists.
Lamptey expressed his emotions about leaving Brighton on Instagram, sharing a heartfelt farewell to the club and its supporters.

Notably, he did not feature in Brighton’s opening three matches against Fulham, Everton, and Oxford United.
Lamptey is known for his pace and adaptability on either flank, making him a flexible option for Fiorentina. His arrival is expected to strengthen squad depth and provide tactical options for the Serie A side.
Tariq Lamptey remains a key figure for the Ghana national team. “I’m looking forward to joining my Black Stars teammates for the Matchday 7 and 8 games of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali this month,” he said.
Lamptey’s move to Italy marks a fresh start after his time in the Premier League. Fiorentina fans will be eager to see him regain full fitness and make an impact in Serie A.
