Emma Willis Teases Husband Matt Over His New ‘Addiction’
Emma Willis has playfully taken aim at her husband Matt’s latest obsession and it’s not what you might expect.
The couple, both familiar faces to viewers as the hosts of Netflix’s Love Is Blind UK, have been married for years, often praised for their close bond. But there’s a new pastime in Matt’s life that’s causing a light-hearted rift at home. It’s golf.
The Busted bassist, 42, confessed during an interview with The Mirror: “I’m obsessed. It’s slowly ruining my life… But in the greatest possible way!” Emma’s dry response? “For him!”
While her quip made it clear she’s not entirely sold on his new passion, Matt remains undeterred. “I love it. I’ve got rules about it. I didn’t get told to make these rules; I made them on my own,” he explained, insisting he only plays while their children are at school so Emma isn’t left a “golf widow.”
Emma, 49, couldn’t resist comparing golf to his previous pastime, referencing his public battle with substance abuse. “I’m only making digs about it because I don’t hear anything else now other than golf.
I walk into the living room and it’s on the telly. The kids walk in, sigh and then they walk back out again.”
Ironically, Matt originally bought Emma golf lessons for Christmas, hoping it would become a shared hobby. She didn’t take to it, leaving him to play solo.
And it’s not all one-sided, Emma has her own grand idea that reportedly makes Matt roll his eyes: travelling the world in a converted transit van.
Despite the teasing, the couple’s marriage remains rock solid. Emma credits their longevity to “love, time, commitment, and compromise.”
Earlier this year, Emma underwent keyhole heart surgery to fix a hole she didn’t know existed. Speaking in the same interview, the pair confirmed she’s steadily recovering after taking a break from work.
With golf, campervan dreams, and plenty of good-natured banter, it seems the Willises are still very much in sync — even if one of them would rather be on the green.
