EA’s upcoming Battlefield 6 sees major leaks hours before its official reveal, including the release date, open beta plans, and trailer footage.

EA’s long-anticipated Battlefield 6 is scheduled for its big multiplayer gameplay reveal later today – but fans might feel there’s little left to be revealed. A slew of leaks has hit the internet in the hours leading up to the announcement, giving away key details, some even from EA’s own slip-ups.

With a confirmed launch date of 10 October and multiple beta phases in August, Battlefield 6 is shaping up to be EA’s most ambitious shooter yet – and it’s already stirring major excitement among fans, even before the official gameplay reveal.

October Launch Date Accidentally Confirmed

The launch date for Battlefield 6 had been swirling in rumours for weeks, but it was EA themselves who inadvertently confirmed the October 10 release.

A trailer was published on X (formerly Twitter) ahead of schedule, revealing both the date and a glimpse of the game’s visual style. It was taken down shortly after – but not before quick-eyed fans captured and circulated it.

The brief 15-second trailer, crafted specifically for X, doesn’t show full gameplay but includes cinematic shots using in-game assets. It’s reminiscent of last week’s teaser, offering glimpses of chaotic battles involving infantry, vehicles, and large-scale destruction – hallmarks of the Battlefield franchise.

Leaked Gameplay and Content Details

Gameplay footage has been leaking for months now, thanks to various closed beta sessions. While the newly dropped trailer is tightly edited, longer versions are expected to follow during today’s reveal.

Beyond visuals, core content has also surfaced. Details about the game’s maps, weaponry, and vehicles have been doing the rounds online, with a high degree of credibility. However, it’s believed EA has more in store for tonight’s presentation.

Importantly, EA has reiterated that Battlefield 6 won’t carry a price tag of £80, dispelling rumours of a price hike. However, the base edition is expected to be priced around £70, something that may be officially confirmed today to push pre-orders, especially for premium versions.

When and Where to Watch the Reveal

The official multiplayer showcase kicks off at 7.30pm BST, and it promises a deeper look into the game’s mechanics and features.

Viewers can catch the reveal live on YouTube or Twitch, with the event potentially running for up to three hours. Shorter highlight trailers are also expected to drop during or shortly after the livestream.

Open Beta Phases Leaked

According to Insider Gaming, Battlefield 6 will have three beta phases throughout August:

  • Closed Beta: 7–8 August
    • Access via Twitch drops or by pre-ordering the game
  • Open Beta #1: 9–10 August
    • Available to all players
  • Open Beta #2: 14–17 August
    • Also open to all

The multiple betas suggest EA is putting serious effort into fine-tuning the experience ahead of launch – and placing a huge bet on its success. This is a bold move, especially considering the lukewarm reception of recent Battlefield titles.

EA is reportedly developing a free battle royale mode, designed to compete with Call of Duty’s Warzone. While the idea has generated buzz, it’s unclear whether this mode will launch alongside Battlefield 6 in October or be rolled out at a later stage. It’s also not guaranteed to be discussed in today’s showcase.

With Battlefield 6, EA appears to be pulling out all the stops to take on its long-time rival, Call of Duty. Despite the premature leaks, fan anticipation remains sky-high – and tonight’s reveal is likely to be the final piece in the puzzle before the autumn launch.
