Pizza Hut is set to close 68 of its dine-in restaurants across the UK, with over a thousand jobs now at risk, after the franchise operator fell into administration.

DC London Pie, the company managing Pizza Hut’s UK dine-in outlets under franchise, has entered administration, prompting a wave of closures that will significantly reduce the chain’s physical presence on British high streets.

Pizza Hut to Close 68 UK Locations

The announcement marks a major shift in the brand’s UK operations. Alongside the 68 restaurant closures, 11 delivery sites are also due to shut down, putting an estimated 1,210 employees at risk of redundancy.

“The move comes as part of a larger restructuring aimed at safeguarding the long-term viability of the brand in the UK.”

American parent company Yum! Brands, which owns Pizza Hut globally, has taken over the UK operations through a pre-pack administration deal, managing to save 64 of the restaurant sites.

This strategic buyout was completed swiftly following DC London Pie’s financial collapse and is being seen as a lifeline for the remaining outlets.

“Our goal is to strengthen the Pizza Hut brand in the UK while supporting our team members and franchisees,” a Yum! representative said.

Impact on Workers and Towns

The closures span nearly every region in the UK, affecting both city centres and suburban retail parks. For many towns, the closure of a local Pizza Hut will mark the end of a longstanding community dining spot.

Pizza Hut is shutting down 68 restaurants across the UK after its franchise operator, DC London Pie, entered administration. More than 1,200 jobs are at risk, while parent company Yum! Brands steps in to rescue 64 locations through a pre-pack deal.

While the brand will still have a presence in the UK, this move significantly reduces its footprint — particularly for dine-in experiences, which were once a staple of British family outings.

Although the brand retains a presence, Pizza Hut faces a crucial period of rebuilding. As high street competition intensifies and consumer habits shift, the company will need to adapt quickly to maintain relevance in the UK’s fast-changing dining landscape.

Insiders say the new focus will likely be on delivery, smaller format stores, and partnerships with third-party food platforms.

From Yorkshire to Cornwall, many locals have taken to social media to share memories and express sadness over the loss of a familiar favourite.

“I had my 10th birthday there. Sad to see it go,” wrote one user on X (formerly Twitter).

Despite the closures, Yum! Brands has reassured customers that Pizza Hut is “not disappearing” from the UK entirely, just evolving.
