Gianluigi Donnarumma to Manchester City: Fabrizio Romano Confirms ‘Here We Go’ Move
Manchester City are on the brink of completing one of the most eye-catching transfers of the summer, with Gianluigi Donnarumma set to leave Paris Saint-Germain and head to the Etihad Stadium.
The Italy No.1 has been linked with a Premier League switch for months. Chelsea and Manchester United had both expressed interest, but City quickly pulled clear as favourites. The deal is now only a matter of time, with Transfer Deadline Day looming.
For the move to materialise, City needed to resolve Ederson’s future first. After eight glittering years, the Brazilian shot-stopper is preparing for a new chapter in Turkey.
“BREAKING: Ederson to Fenerbahce, here we go! Verbal agreement in place for Brazilian GK to join Fener,” Fabrizio Romano confirmed on X.

That announcement paved the way for Donnarumma’s arrival.
The 25-year-old Italian will become Pep Guardiola’s seventh signing of the window. He joins Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Rayan Cherki, James Trafford, Sverre Nypan and Marcus Bettinelli in what has been a sweeping rebuild.
The move is not without intrigue. Donnarumma helped PSG to their historic first Champions League title last season, delivering commanding performances on the biggest stage. Yet, Luis Enrique’s summer acquisition of Lille’s Lucas Chevalier pushed him towards the exit door.
And while European headlines are dominated by transfer sagas, the Seattle Sounders’ win over Inter Miami shows how quickly fortunes can shift across football.
Once unveiled, Donnarumma is expected to battle James Trafford for the No.1 shirt. Trafford, a rising star of English football, has impressed Guardiola and could push hard for starts. Stefan Ortega remains another option, although his future is less certain before the deadline.
For Donnarumma, it is a fresh challenge in English football. For City, it signals intent to stay ahead of their rivals, with a world-class goalkeeper anchoring their back line.
The Premier League champions are once again making headlines. And with Donnarumma in sky blue, the rest of Europe will be watching.
