“Back to the Future: The Musical” Gears Up for Its First-Ever UK Tour
Time travel is coming to a theatre near you. The smash-hit stage adaptation of Back to the Future is finally hitting the road.
For the first time ever, the musical will tour the UK, beginning its journey in Bristol this October 2026.
Fans of the iconic 1985 film will already know the story. Michael J. Fox’s Marty McFly and Christopher Lloyd’s eccentric Doc Brown take cult on a whirlwind adventure through time.
Now, the cherished tale is getting a glowing theatrical treatment, with fresh music and lyrics from award-winning melodists Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard, alongside classic chorales like The Power of Love and Johnny B. Goode.
Having mesmerised West End cult at London’s Adelphi Theatre, where it enters its fifth year, the product has broken box office records and entertained over two million people since its 2021 premiere.
Critics and suckers likewise have hailed it as a must-see experience. The show’s jewel press is formerly bulging with accolades, including the WhatsOnStage and Olivier Awards for Best New Musical.
It’s not just the UK that’s caught the time-travelling bug. The musical comedy has voyaged North America, Japan, and, indeed, Royal Caribbean sails, with forthcoming products planned for Australia and Germany.
Encyclopedically, further than four million people have enjoyed this spectacular trip through time.
Lead producer Colin Ingram shared his excitement: “I’m so delighted that the DeLorean will be travelling 88 mph to all the main theatre cities in the UK so that we can bring this heartfelt spectacle of a show to those who haven’t seen it in the West End or want to see it again.

The product brings together an extraordinary creative team. Tony Award-winning director John Rando helms the show, with set and costume designs by Tim Hatley, choreography by Chris Bailey, and stunning visual fancies drafted by Chris Fisher.
Lighting maestros Tim Lutkin and Hugh Vanstone, sound developer Gareth Owen, and videotape developer Finn Ross round out the specialized platoon.
Musical arrangements by Nick Finlow and coherence by Ethan Popp and Bryan Crook add further faculty, with casting led by David Grindrod of Grindrod Burton Casting.
The film’s heritage remains as important as ever. Celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2025, Back to the unborn grossed in$ 360.6 million at the global box office.
The trio grossed$ 936.6 million, which translates to over$ 1.8 billion when adjusted for inflation. The adventures of Marty and Doc, not to mention their notorious DeLorean, continue to allure generations.
