North West London Tragedy: Man Dies After Suspected Hit-and-Run Following Street Brawl
A murder probe has been launched in North West London after a man, injured in a dramatic street fight, died following a suspected hit-and-run.
Shoaib Kochay, just 22, succumbed to his injuries in the hospital more than a week after the incident unfolded on Hendon’s Park Road. The scene—chaotic and violent—has left the community rattled.
Emergency services rushed to the area around 4:15pm on Tuesday, 1 July, responding to reports of a violent altercation involving weapons. Witnesses say Kochay was deliberately mowed down by a white Tesla, which then sped off.
The vehicle—matching witness descriptions—was later found abandoned nearby on Mount Road. Despite intensive medical efforts, Shoaib passed away on Wednesday, 9 July.
Police have since confirmed that they believe this was a targeted attack, and there is no broader risk to the public.
Detective Inspector Jon Moseling, who is leading the inquiry, said:
“Our thoughts are very much with Shoaib’s friends and family at this sad time and our investigation continues at pace to piece together what happened and to bring those responsible for Shoaib’s death to justice.
“We have been busy gathering footage and speaking to witnesses, but we are still keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time who has not yet spoken to us, especially anyone who may have seen two white Teslas, licence plates BJ22EOT and BK72HHU, either before or after the incident.”
With plenty of people reportedly in the area at the time, officers are confident more witnesses are out there. Detective Chief Superintendent Luke Williams reinforced the appeal:
“We know that the area was busy at the time and there were multiple witnesses to the incident.
“I would encourage anyone who has not yet spoken to us, to get in touch and support our investigation.”
The victim’s family is now receiving support from specially trained officers as they come to terms with their devastating loss.
Authorities are urging anyone with information, images or dashcam footage to upload it to the Met’s dedicated appeal page. Witnesses can also call 101, quoting reference 6173/1JUL, or remain anonymous by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
This latest incident adds to growing concerns around street violence in North West London—a community now seeking answers, justice, and peace.
