Stansted Airport Trains Canceled This Weekend Amid Engineering Works

Passengers heading to Stansted Airport face dislocation this Sunday, October 19, as Greater Anglia suspends direct train services due to an essential engineering workshop.

Trip times could stretch close to three hours, egging commuters and trippers to reevaluate their plans.

No trains will run directly between London Liverpool Street and Stansted Airport. Greater Anglia advises trippers to check their routes before setting off and consider alternative transport options.

For those still planning to travel by train, journeys via Cambridge remain an option. “Stansted Express tickets will be accepted on Great Northern services between London King’s Cross and Cambridge, and Cambridge to Stansted Airport,” the company confirmed.

This route is expected to take around 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Early morning and late-night trippers should take note. Great Northern services operate on a shorter schedule than Stansted Express, meaning some peregrinations may not be possible. Passengers are prompted to plan precisely and check calendars in advance.

Limited services will continue between London Liverpool Street and Waltham Cross, running at just two trains per hour with reduced capacity.

A veritably defined relief machine service will operate from Waltham Cross to Stansted Airport. trippers using this combination should anticipate a total trip time of roughly 2 hours and 40 twinkles.

Regular train services will continue between Cambridge North and Stansted Airport.

Football suckers are also affected. Those heading to the Tottenham Hotspur v Aston Villa match, starting at 2 pm, should travel to Tottenham Hale and walk to the Colosseum. London Overground trains from Enfield Town will run every 15 twinkles.

Martin Beable, Managing Director of Greater Anglia, said: “We are unable to operate direct trains between London Liverpool Street and Stansted Airport on Sunday 19 October while Network Rail carries out essential engineering work.

Customers are advised to plan ahead, allow more time for their journey, and check before they travel. We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused.”

Simon Milburn, infrastructure director at Network Rail Anglia, added: “Our vital engineering works on Sunday 19 October include track maintenance and structures examination between Broxbourne and Cheshunt junctions, while near Stansted Airport our teams will be carrying out critical overhead line maintenance.

We apologize for any disruption, but we’ll be working flat-out all day to help keep everyone’s journeys safe and reliable on this part of the network.”

Passengers are advised to leave extra time, prepare for longer journeys, and consider buses or taxis as alternatives where possible.
