A shocking discovery has shaken a quiet Kentucky community after the body of a missing 10-year-old boy was found hidden in the woods.
Kentucky State Police confirmed that the remains of young Jayden Spicer were located on Tuesday afternoon in a wooded area off Canoe Road, Breathitt County. Officers say the child’s body was buried in a shallow grave and recovered shortly after 3 p.m.
Jayden’s mother, 33-year-old Felicia Gross from Jackson, has been arrested in connection with his death. She faces multiple charges, including manslaughter, abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence, and falsely reporting an incident. Gross is currently being held at the Kentucky River Regional Jail.
Authorities began their investigation last Tuesday after Jayden was reported missing. The search, which involved state police and local agencies, stretched for days before ending in tragedy. The boy’s body has been transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for a post-mortem examination.

Jayden’s aunt, Samantha Brunty, told ABC 36: “The boy’s body was discovered Tuesday in Breathitt County after an extensive search.”
At the time of the family’s announcement, police had not publicly confirmed the details of the discovery or the circumstances of Jayden’s death. Investigators are expected to release more findings once the coroner’s office completes its work.
The case remains under active investigation, with officers urging the public to come forward with any relevant information. The community, meanwhile, is left mourning the loss of a child whose disappearance had sparked hope and desperation in equal measure.
